I had my 30 week check up with my doctor this week. Everything is still looking good. I’m measuring right on schedule, my weight is good, and baby girl has a strong healthy heartbeat. She is a healthy active baby. Even as I sit here drafting this post I can see movement in my belly. Which some might consider to be a little freaky, think along the lines of the Aliens movie. I’m still taking the iron supplements for anemia. I’m not sure if The doctor will have my iron levels checked again before the birth.
We had two baby showers this past weekend. I’m working up a post with pictures on that subject. We came home with lots of clothes and much needed items and somethings that will make life easier that we did not know about. So this week I’ve been working on taking inventory of what all we have and figuring out what we still need. Also this week we ordered the infant carseat and stroller travel system. Once they arrive I think that just leaves a baby bath and infant swing that we will need on the big-ish stuff, and we might be able to make do without the swing. We’ll just have to wait and see on that.
Next up getting the nursery put together, washing the baby items, and stocking the changing tables and diaper bag.

We have a crib…
Hubby worked on building the crib yesterday. He just about got it 100% complete, all that is left is building the drawers for the changing table. It looks really good!
I can’t wait to get the drawers on the changing table in so I can start stocking it with supplies! Yeah, I’m nerdy that way!
Here’s a shot of the mattress that was given to us by a couple from my parents church.
These are the super cute pooh crib sheets hubby’s mom bought. I can’t wait to put one on the mattress in the crib!
Preparing for baby….
We are about four months out from the estimated due date. Time sure has flown since that positive pregnancy test. The preparations for baby’s arrival are starting to gear up. We ordered the crib this week, it should arrive mid next week. My parents are bringing up a new crib mattress that was very generously given to us by a couple of members of their church who had an extra mattress that was not going to be used. Church people are awesome!
We are going to go buy the bassinet this weekend. Sears is having a sale on their baby stuff this month, you can get 25% off the pooh baby gear. This is what we are getting:

Technically it’s a playard with a bassinet insert and changing pad hooked on it for the first few months of baby’s life. I’m thinking two birds one stone here. Use it as a bassinet for the first little bit, and then we can use it as the playard in the livingroom after she is moved into the nursery to sleep in the crib at night. I’ll post better pictures of it once we get it home and put together!
Other preparations for baby. I’ve been picking up baby clothes here and there when I see something I like – I’m holding off until after the baby showers to do any real clothes shopping. I’ve also been picking up a box of diapers every now and then, especially when I can find a coupon for them. All of our friends that already have kids have told us to start picking up a box when you buy groceries in preparation. They also said try a variety of brands to find which one fits baby best. So far I’ve only picked up 4 boxes:

Look at how tiny the newborn size are! I can’t believe she is going to be that tiny when I bring her home from the hospital!

I’m also stocking up on wipes and the diaper pail liners. I may go ahead and pick up a few other diaper station essentials so once the bassinet and crib are put together I can start stocking the changing tables. Things are starting to pick up, it’s going to be an exciting and interesting four months!
Let the nesting begin…
Since I became pregnant I’ve been participating in the babycenter.com community message boards. I’ve found a lot of nice people in the May 2012 First Time Moms message board. It’s been really helpful to be able to communicate with other women who are also going through this for the first time. We’ve shared funny stories, offered emotional support, been sounding boards for each other. It has been a really good experience.
One of the topics that is going around the message board this week is nesting. I’m not sure when exactly the nesting phase is supposed to come into play during a pregnancy, usually towards the end of the pregnancy from what I have read thus far. However, this past weekend I believe I was bitten by the nesting bug. I have made a list of stuff that needs to be done in every room of the house. I also have a list of things that need to be done that are baby specific before the baby arrives. I have a list for packing for the hospital, a list for making sure I have everything needed at the house before baby comes home, a list of everything that needs to be in a baby’s first aid kit, and a list for packing a diaper bag. This is all in additional to the everyday to do lists that I have. I have gone list crazy!
So the nesting has begun. I have started cleaning on the house doing a little at a time. Hubby has been enlisted to help with things that I just cannot do myself. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m pretty sure getting on my knees and scrubbing the bath tub is going to be impossible for me with this growing belly.
Sometime this week we are planning on ordering the crib. Baby showers are beginning to be planned and will take place in the next couple of months. And then I’ll know what’s left on my need for baby list and can work on that. So much to do, and time is starting to dwindle away. May is going to be here before I know it.
