Counting down…

So we are a little less than 20 days away from our planned move-in week at the end of this month. We’ve kicked up our packing a notch. There is so much to remember to do for this move. I was able mark a couple big items off my checklist last week though, thanks to the holiday sales!

We went to Sears and took advantage of the 4th of July sales going on. Appliances are taken care of. Bought and scheduled for delivery on the 25th. I did get pictures of the washer and dryer (Kenmore), but I forgot to snap a picture of the refrigerator (Samsung). I’ll get pictures of everything up once they are delivered and installed. Besides, the one on display was white and our kitchen appliances are black.

So, here’s the washer and dryer. They are fun, they make cool game noises when you turn them on and off!

The refrigerator is really nice too. It’s a side by side with ice and water in the door. Everything is turning out pretty good and somewhat smoothly.

We are meeting with the home insurance people tomorrow afternoon to get that taken care of. So that will be another item off my check list. Before we know it, it’ll be time to move in!

Decision Day…

Today we met with the interior designer to pick out flooring, cabinets, and paint. Did you know that grout comes in multiple colors? Just a little something I learned today. We made several decisions today. And of course I took pictures of all of them.

Cabinets: (Kitchen and Bathrooms)

Vinyl: (Front entry way, Kitchen, Dining room, Laundry room)

Vinyl: (Bathrooms)

Carpet: (Bedrooms, Closets, Living room)

Walls: (Napery on walls, Dover white on trim)

Counter tops: (We had a fun surprise, it turns out that the builder decided to upgrade our counter tops to granite at no extra cost. Happy surprise! These will be in the kitchen and the bathrooms.)

I think we still have some decisions to make on appliances and fixtures and the like. Hopefully we’ll get out to the house in the next day or so. More pictures to come.

House progress….

They are really moving on the house. Just within the last 7 days they have done the framing for the walls and the roof. Quite a bit of progress. We are super excited. The builder said that his decorator will be contacting us sometime this week to schedule an appointment to discuss the interior decisions for the house. The estimated closing date is June 15th. YAY!

Now for some pictures:

Slab poured…..

Today the poured the slab for the house. Dave and I went out by the lot after work today. Neither of us were feeling up to doing a taekwondo class tonight. The workers were still out at the house working on the cement smoothing it out. It sure does look like back-breaking work!

It’s been very exciting the past couple weeks seeing progress on our house. We are looking forward to more excitement in the weeks to come. I can’t wait to sit down with the interior decorator to pick out all the colors and stuff for inside the house!

We have plumbing…..

They put in the pipes for the plumbing this week. Dave ran up to the lot to take pictures. The builder called the other day to let us know that they will be pouring the slab on Monday. We will be getting with the interior decorator sometime in the next two weeks to pick out paint and carpet and such. But, in the meantime…..we have plumbing!

Let the house building begin…

We took a trip out to the lot on Saturday, and much to our suprise and delight they have started working on our house. As we were pulling up to the lot I noticed that the supplies that were on the side of the road had moved, and we could make out some grey up through the trees! The poured the stem wall! This will anchor the foundation to the ground. We are so excitied to finally start seeing some progress. I’m anxious to go out again this week and see if there is anymore movement on the house!

Let the building begin! They came out and cleared our lot earlier this week. Which was a relief, the bulldozer was delayed due to the weather and wind the past couple weeks. But all that cleared up on Monday and they were able to do their work. They did a good job clearing the lot. They saved a lot of the trees in the front for us.

Here is the view up the driveway from the street:

A few days ago they put in the power meter and delivered some supplies to get started on the house.

Here are the building supplies that they dropped off:

The bulldozer was still on the property. So naturally I had to take a picture in it! I mean that’s what it was left there for….right?

The next several months are going to be exciting. Going out to the lot everyday to see the progress. It will be even more exciting when we finally get to move in!

Stay tuned for more pictures and house progress!
